Vacuum High-stability Mirror Mount

Introduction

Higher moment of inertia to maximize stiffness and faster to reach thermal equilibrium characteristics are achieved by a hollow-frame design. Ideal for interference measurement or precision measurement.

Description

These products are engineered with vacuum use in mind, from material selection to cleaning and packaging.

Moving parts are lubricated with BARRIERTA SUPER IS/V grease, known for its low outgassing performance.

A low-outgassing adhesive suitable for vacuum environments is used on bonded surfaces.

The mirror is held in place at three points on the sides, including a leaf spring retention mechanism whose force can be adjusted with set screws.

The recommended tightening torque for the set screw of the leaf spring retention mechanism is 3 to 5 N·cm.

With the VMHX-*F-R type, the mirror is inserted from the back side of the holder and positioned so that the reflective surface contacts the reference stop. This ensures that the center of the rod mounting and the position of the reflective surface always align, regardless of the mirror's thickness. (For VMHX-***F/A, the mirror is inserted from the front side of the holder.)

The VMHX-*F/F-R models are equipped with three adjustment screws, enabling tilt and rotation adjustments as well as forward/backward movement of the reflective surface. (The VMHX-*A model supports two axes of adjustment—tilt and rotation only.)

All types include mirror adhesive wells, an anti-rotation structure for installation, and positioning pin holes.

Guide

The product and included screws are delivered in vacuum packaging to maintain high cleanliness.

Use a hex wrench to make tilt and rotation adjustments. The screws cannot be operated by bare hands.

Vacuum Pedestal Bases (VPST) and Posts (VRO) are also available and can be mounted using the supplied screws.

Attention

When opening the vacuum packaging, do so in a cleanroom environment and avoid touching the product directly with bare hands.

Hex wrench not included.

Knob of High-Stability Mirror Mount (MHX-K-M6) and Lock of High-Stability Mirror Mount (MHX-L-M*) are not designed for vacuum environments.

When used with a cross beam (optical system such as a Michelson interferometer), the effective diameter of the beam becomes smaller.
